SADCASE WHITSUN MONDAY CLASSIC CAR SHOW

This was our main vehicle show in 2024 where the members of the public are invited to view our wonderful selection of cars. The Amberley Museum had advertised the SADCASE show on their website for some time, trusting that there would be a good response.

We had limited the ticket sales to 180 to ensure all members could park together. As expected the event SOLD OUT a few days before the event and the ticketing website was shut down. Many members then contacted us by phone and email asking if they could be admitted. We placed this notice on our facebook pages.

"SADCASE WHITSUN MONDAY CLASSIC CAR SHOW

To confirm this event this coming Monday is now completely SOLD OUT. Apologies if you have missed this we can only issue a set number of tickets unfortunately."

but...this then encouraged a number of scammers including some apparently from Romania offering fictitous tickets at our event which we know were false. A SADCASE Show is big news ! Some were offering "senior tickets" which we did not issue. We believe we know how to stop this next year by ensuring tickets are tied closely to membership numbers. We were able to take these posts down very quickly but please do not be fooled by these people whether buying a SADCASE ticket or for anything else.  Don't be scammed.

Always contact us directly!

SADCASE members started to arrive with their polished cars just before 8.00am. Everyone was in a good mood, parking their cars on the lower level. There was a little rain at first but this largely cleared up before 9.00am giving everyone a brilliant dry day to enjoy the cars, Peter the Steam Train and vintage bus rides, all the museum exhibits and of course chatting to fellow members. It was quickly evident that a large number of the public had also entered the museum by the Museum turnstiles. Many were found in friendly conversations with SADCASE members who like nothing better than discuss the merits and interesting points of their cars.

There were loads of things to do! Some enterprising SADCASE members had filled their cars with passengers as the special £12.50 SADCASE entrance fee covered the show car and all passengers seated inside, giving fantastic value for money. We were informed later that this was the busiest day of the year for the museum. The promise of a good SADCASE show was no doubt a major reason for the record numbers. There was a huge choice of cars to look and chat about. Many MGs, Healeys, E-Types, Alfas, Fords, BMWs and an eccentric ex Jeremy Clarkson special owned by new member Zach Ascot as seen above and in "the Grand Tour".

The Limeburners cafe did a roaring trade and the museum exhibitors were keen to explain and show how the dramatic evolution of British Communications, Crafts, Industry and transportation over many years to the present day had been achieved. All very interesting. Everyone who visited these unique exhibits learned something new.

Other members were seen exploring the various nature walks and the site of the Roger Moore 007 James Bond film "A View to a Kill".  In September 1984 locations across Amberley Museum’s old Chalk Pits and Quarry Tunnel were transformed into the fictional Main Strike Mine. Objects from the Museum’s collection took on starring roles in the film.

This Whitsun Monday show was a good day for SADCASE members with many feeling their cars were part of the museum exhibits! We have had a marked increase in people applying to join our club since, attracted no doubt by our enthusiasm and distinctive windscreen badge! We look forward to next year.
